“Ladies and Gentlemen: the Revolution”
Kudos to my favorite band of all-time, Prince and the Revolution, on the selection of the album Purple Rain to be included in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. It’s no small feat for a song to be included, much less a whole album.
Not surprisingly, it’s the soundtrack to Prince’s Purple Rain that’s being hailed by the Library as “culturally significant,” with credit going to the album not only for mixing synth-pop and soul with guitar-based rock, but also for featuring controversial content that, for better or worse (probably much worse) directly led to the founding of the Parents Music Resource Center. Does Prince have Tipper Gore to thank for this honor?
When you’re president, as opposed to the head of a private equity firm, then your job is not simply to maximize profits. Your job is to figure out how everybody in the country has a fair shot… And so if your main argument for how to grow the economy is ‘I knew how to make a lot of money for investors,’ then you’re missing what this job is about. —

I love how our president can rationally articulate a thought.
